Our Site & Facilities
At Oswestry we pride ourselves on being a school “in miniature” offering everything that a larger school would offer in terms of access to the curriculum and activities.
We use the school gym for P.E. sessions. Activities include a variety of ball games including dodge-ball and non-stop cricket. We use the outside space when weather permits to play a game of football. The hall is also used for challenges for Sports Relief and in preparation for sports days. Offsite outdoor facilities are also used giving scope for structured team games such as tag rugby.
Once a week throughout the year we swim at Oswestry Leisure Centre. Pupils are taught by in small groups with non-swimmers being accompanied by staff in the pool to give extra confidence. The majority of our pupils are able to swim by the time they leave us.
During the drier parts of the year (generally early Autumn and late Spring) we have outdoor education sessions exploring aspects of geography, history and science at first hand. We are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful countryside giving excellent opportunities for an enjoyable day out.
Other offsite activities include theatre and cinema trips linked to the curriculum and reward trips such as bowling and Lazerquest.
Visitors should use the car park off Middleton Road with yellow gates (prior to the main school building). You will see signage to the left of the gate. Once parked follow the directions using the signs through to Woodlands School which is located in a demountable building in between the main school hall and Nursery.
